Look beyond the APY: each pool type has a different source of yield and its own risks.
Rates change with borrowing demand, fees, liquidity and incentives. A high APY can fall quickly.
A large balance can indicate liquidity and demand, but it does not replace an audit or due diligence on the protocol.
A price divergence between paired assets can create impermanent loss and consume part of the fees and rewards.
Consider smart-contract vulnerabilities, protocol risk, stablecoin depegs and exit liquidity before depositing.
APY is an annualised yield estimate that assumes compounding. It uses current pool conditions and is not a promised rate.
A liquidity pool usually requires a pair of assets and pays trading fees, but introduces impermanent-loss risk. Lending supplies one asset and earns borrower interest.
A high rate may depend on temporary emissions, thin liquidity or a volatile reward token. Yield and the reward price can fall sharply when incentives change.
TVL helps assess a pool’s scale and liquidity, not its safety. Review it alongside audits, withdrawal conditions and the risks of the asset and protocol.
